Join us for a special presentation, From La Iberia to Los Angeles: Legacies of Islamic Spain by Munir Shaikh, organized by LALMA (La Asociación Latino Musulmana de América / The Latino Muslim Association of America) and hosted by Self Help Graphics. The engaging event provides an overview of the cosmopolitan-shared culture of Muslims, Jews, and Christians in Al-Andalus, the medieval Islamic society of southern Spain. The lecture will also discuss influences on European thought and culture and present cultural, literary and architectural connections to life in today's Los Angeles.

Noted speaker Munir Shaikh is an academic, public educator and non-profit executive with nearly 25 years of experience contributing to the efforts of numerous U.S., European and Middle Eastern educational organizations. He holds an M.A. in Islamic Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, and has taught courses on Middle Eastern history, Islam, and world history at several Southern California higher education institutions.
